Surgical abdominoplasty: what’s the non-invasive alternative?

Alternativa no quirúrgica a la abdominoplastia

Abdominoplasty is a very complex major surgical procedure, aimed at the removal of excess skin and fat of the middle and lower part of the abdomen and the strengthening of muscles of the abdominal wall.

This surgery is especially useful in women who have gone through several pregnancies, leaving them with debilitated skin and abdominal muscles, and who have been unable to recover their initial muscle tone.

It is also recommended for men and women with a lot of subcutaneous fat accumulation or who have lost a lot of weight, causing them to have loose skin or  hypotonia of the abdominal muscles.

It appears to be the perfect solution, but before taking a decision, patients should be informed about the surgical procedure they are about to undergo.

What is the surgical procedure in a surgical abdominoplasty?

Let’s see the different steps of this abdominal aesthetic surgery and some complications that can occur after any surgical procedure:

  1. This surgery is performed under general anesthesia, which always has certain risks of complications: cardiac arrest, cardiac insufficiency or stroke, increase or decrease of the blood pressure, pneumonia or other respiratory, reactions to certain drugs during anesthesia, muscular damage and fast increase of the body temperature, etc…
  1. The first step of surgical abdominoplasty is a horizontal incision in the lower part of the umbilicus from one side of the abdomen to the other. Whether it’s mini abdominal aesthetic surgery or a complete abdominal aesthetic surgery, a scar will remain that crosses the inferior part of the abdomen from one hip to another. Furthermore, this scar is not only limited to the superficial part of the skin: it reaches more profound skin layers where it can cause uncomfortable adhesions. And as if all the above were not enough, very often some very unaesthetic ridges appear at the ends of the scars.

3. The excess fat is removed through liposuction, which, during the postoperative period can generate fibrosis and skin insensitivity in certain areas of the skin.

4. If the muscles have separated or are debilitated, the plastic surgeon will repair and tighten them. This procedure of surgical abdominoplasty can also generate adhesions in the fascia, which are tissues that cover all structures enabling their sliding, causing hypomobility in the surrounding structures (bladder, large intestine, etc.). Furthermore the muscles often tighten so much that the abdomen becomes abnormally rigid.

5. Dermolipectomy: This phase consists of the extirpation of the tissue contained between the navel and the pubis.

6. The next step is stretching the skin that remains above the navel to close the space left by the dermolipectomy. If the resection was excessive, the tension on the suture line can cause necrosis of the skin. There may also be a difference between the thickness of the upper and the lower flap (although this shouldn’t be the case if an adequate liposuction is carried out before and after the abdominoplasty).

Also, during this part of the surgical abdominoplasty,  it is quite common for the skin to look excessively tightened and stretched.

7. At the end of the surgical abdominoplasty, the navel is reconstructed. This is a very important and difficult step, considering the surgeon needs to make sure the shape and location are appropriate to make the abdomen look natural. During this phase, possible complications that can occur are incorrect positioning, skin necrosis, widening of scar around the navel, unsightly appearance of the navel, etc.

Risks and complications of a surgical abdominoplasty

We’ve already explained that surgical abdominoplasty is a very effective procedure but it is important to not only take into account the results, but also the recovery period and the entailed risks.

As with any other surgical intervention, there are certain risks and possible complications, which, sorted by frequency, would be the following:

  • Pain
  • Bleeding
  • Electrolyte imbalance
  • Infections
  • Stoma-related complications
  • Aspiration pneumonia
  • Anastomotic dehiscence
  • Hypovolemic shock
  • Profound venous thrombosis.

On the other hand, the incision itself also entails certain risks, as is the case for any surgical lesion: infection, bruising, suture opening and formation of hypertrophic or keloid scars.

Let’s not forget about the tedious healing process either, which includes high levels of pain, bruising, inflammation,… nor the high cost of the intervention and the rehabilitation process to treat the inflammation and the scar.

Capenergy, the non-invasive alternative to surgical abdominoplasty

To all those persons who prefer treatments that are less invasive and dangerous than surgical abdominoplasty, your clinic can now offer an alternative that can achieve basically the same results, but without surgery

Thanks to our advanced tecar therapy technology, you will be able to remove localized abdominal fat and flaccidity, while generating new collagen and elastin.

Capenergy’s second generation tecar therapy furthermore boosts the transport of the lipolytic, draining and firming active principles, furthermore improving the treatment results.

What is the protocol for Capenergy’s non-surgical abdominoplasty?

Capenergy’s protocol for abdominal reduction with its second generation tecar therapy devices is very easy and pleasant.

FASE 1

20 minutes  of automatic treatment with 4 active plates of 200cm2 each that cover the abdominal surface and send a lot of energy inside the body producing so much heat (without it becoming unpleasant) that the accumulated fat starts melting and the fat cells are removed. There is furthermore a vasodilator effect that will increase nutrition and cellular oxygenation.

FASE 2

15 minutes of our so-called cross-fire technique, which is an intense massage with two manual electrodes at the same time: capacitive and resistive.

The first electrode concentrates the energy on the surface to generate NATURAL collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, tightening the skin. The second electrode, the resistive one, acts on a more profound level, breaking down the fibrotic adipose tissue by melting it and removing the adipocytes.

During this phase, we apply the appropriate active principles which will penetrate deeply into the skin thanks to the ELECTROPORATION effect generated by the radiofrequency.

FASE 3

Last but not least, we carry out an electromagnetic lymphatic drainage with radiofrequency which will transport the metabolic residues to the blood for their elimination. During this phase, the automatic plates are positioned on the foot soles, improving the lower limb fluid retention.

Once the session has come to an end, the patient can immediately continue his or her daily activities.

Dropping sizes effortlessly!
